Carol teaches courses and supervises students at Antioch University New England Graduate School of Education and Smith College Department of Education and Child Study. Courses include: Children Leaning to Read, Conceptual Development, Reflective Practice in Secondary Education, and Understanding the American Middle School and High School. Carol also works with public school teachers through grant-funded professional development programs, including a Teaching American History project focused on documenting and interpreting the lives of African Americans in 18th century Deerfield, and an interdisciplinary poetry and art project connecting children with their local environments.
Before moving to this area, Carol taught at Bank Street College of Education,
where she was a Graduate Faculty Advisor; member of the Induction Committee
for the Teachers for a New Era Initiative; Course Instructor for Science
and Poetry; and Founder of Bridges From Bank Street, an induction program
for new public school teachers. Carol was a public school classroom teacher
in NYC and CT for over twelve years, including teaching third and sixth
grade public school students at City Hall Academy, a pilot professional
development lab school sponsored by the New York City Department of Education.
